Hope this helps. I have tested going from a 500 GB HDD → 120 GB SSD (anything smaller than that is not recommended). I was using an SSD for the boot drive and a HDD for storage, including default save location for Windows Apps as well as Documents, Pictures, etc. Do you still have the original install on the hard drive it came with?
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I think what frustrates me is that it seems to me that a completely new out of the box machine shouldn't require heavy troubleshooting.
