TOP 10 WAYS TO GET YOUR KIDS INTERESTED IN ART…
Without them knowing it

  1. Introduce your kids to imaginative activities: Whether it’s building a fort, drawing, or playing with legos, encourage your kids to use their minds and imaginations.
  2. Lead by example: As a parent, show interest in all forms of art. Experiment artistically and creatively, and your kids will likely follow suit.
  3. Be enthusiastic about your kids' chosen activities: Understand that learning a new skateboard trick, drawing comics, or just putting creative outfits together are all activities that demonstrate artistry. Encourage and support your children’s creative impulses.
  4. Get your kids the right tools: Pens, pencils, crayons, coloring books, paper, and more. Provide them with the tools to be creative, and they likely will be.
  5. Make a big deal about the little things: When your kids give you drawings, hang them on the fridge or bring them to work. Make your children feel like the next Van Gogh, and they just might be.
  6. Take your kids to museums: Museums are a great way to introduce your kids to many different kinds of art, and most museums have free days, too!
  7. Limit your children’s TV time: Television is here to stay, and it is a great source of information and entertainment. But too much time in front of the TV cuts into the amount of time your children have left for other activities. So limit your children’s access to TV and encourage them to find imaginative and constructive ways to spend their time.
  8. Make drawing fun: Whether you play Pictionary or Cranium or just ask your children to put the finishing touches on the place cards for a holiday dinner, create fun opportunities for them to draw.
  9. Learn to draw with your children: Most of us would like to know how to draw. Why not learn how while bonding with your kids?
  10. Make drawing an outdoor activity: Whether hiking in the woods or driving in a car, encourage sketching points of interest.
