Windows 7 Takes A Long Time To Boot
If you made a change and it didn't help, I hope you reverted your change before trying something else. Slower, takes double the time to boot/load if I have a HDD attached. Perhaps you need to run a registry cleaner and a hard drive cleaner to eliminate some leftovers from Vista which might be slowing the boot. I had the exact same issue once and it was a faulty cable or something, making it hard for the pc to recognize the device. I may just ring brother to find out, Unless anyone in here knows. Would make it to the windows symbol then black screen for 5-10 mins.Unplugged them and tada! When I double clcik on it, a new window comes up and when I clicked on the link in that window, a new window with detailed info came up. First Time Here? Ever since then it takes about 5 minutes on the Starting Windows (flag) screen, then gives me the login screen, then takes a few minutes more before I can do anything. Yes, I did look in Add/Remove in Control Panel for SupportSoft and nothing showing there. By removing the checkmarks in the box next to the item you want to stop loading during logon you can troubleshoot to see what is taking up your valuable startup time.
